Women’s and Family Abuse Program

If you have experienced abuse by a family member, intimate partner, or spouse, you are not alone.  This program provides help to men and women age 50 and older living in communities throughout the North Shore and Cape Ann who are victims of domestic violence.

We offer:

  • Support, education, and advocacy
  • One-on-one confidential counseling
  • Group and family counseling
  • Legal assistance, both to protect you and to make sure your interests and assets are protected
  • Links to many other services from GLSS and its partner agencies, to help you live safely and independently within the community
  • Safe, short-term emergency shelter.

Other things we do include:

  • Providing in-home support services
  • Arranging translation services if a victim is uncomfortable speaking English
  • Providing outreach into the community to help prevent or end domestic violence among older adults and particularly women
  • Providing education for health professionals, the police, and counselors to help them identify older victims of abuse and provide referrals.

This unique, award-winning program is a joint effort between GLSS and Northeast Legal Aid and partially funded by VOCA (Victims of Crime Act).

All services are free and confidential.
