Senior Care Options (SCO)

Senior Care Options are voluntary programs that are available to anyone 65 and older who qualifies for MassHealth Standard.  Once enrolled, a member may dis-enroll any month of the year.

SCOs are comprehensive health plans which provide a fully integrated geriatric model of care.  Benefits include medical, hospital, behavioral health, Medicare prescription drug and MassHealth prescription drug coverage—all in one plan.  Some additional benefits are: transportation to medical appointments, home- and community-based services, and geriatric services support coordination.  SCO Programs authorize, deliver, and coordinate all services covered by Medicare and Medicaid and also include care coordination.  There are no co-pays for members enrolled in SCO.

GLSS provides Geriatric Support Services Coordination to SCO members in our catchment area.   GLSS has a contract with UnitedHealth Care SCO, Commonwealth Care Alliance SCO, Senior Whole Health, Fallon Navicare and Tufts Health Plan SCO.  Visit these organizations’ websites to learn more about the specific benefits offered by each.
