Family Abuse Program

If you have experienced abuse by a family member, intimate partner, or spouse, you are not alone.  This program provides help to people age 50 and older living in Lynn, Lynnfield, Nahant, Saugus, and Swampscott who are victims of domestic violence.

We offer:

• Support, education, and advocacy
• One-on-one confidential counseling
• Group and family counseling
• Free individual clinical therapy
• Legal assistance, both to protect you and to make sure your interests and assets are protected
• Links to many other services from GLSS and its partner agencies, to help you live safely and independently within the community
• Resources for safe, short-term emergency housing.

Other things we do include:

• Providing in-home and telephonic support services
• Bilingual support and other language translation as needed
• Providing outreach to the community to help prevent or end domestic violence among older adults
• Providing education for health professionals, the police, and counselors to help them identify older victims of abuse and provide referrals.

This unique, award-winning program is a joint effort between GLSS and Northeast Legal Aid and partially funded by VOCA (Victims of Crime Act).
